Chemult Yesterday and Today

Chemult is a small, friendly community located just 30 miles from the north entrance to Crater Lake National Park in scenic Central Oregon along Highway U.S. 97.  This makes it a convenient place to stay while you enjoy the variety of activities available year round.

Amtrak also stops here twice daily as it travels through breath taking views and scenery as it travels to and from the Chemult Amtrak Station.

The winters bring lots of snow to play in. Snowmobiling, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and dog sledding can’t be beat on our freshly groomed trails which meander through the forests to
Crater Lake National Park, Crescent and O’Dell Lakes, Diamond Lake, and our very own Miller Lake.

The summers bring us an abundance of sunshine in which to enjoy the wide variety of outdoor recreational opportunities such as hiking, biking, bird watching, camping, boating, fishing, hunting, & exploring the
Volcanic Legacy lands which surround us. Our closest campground, Digit Point, is located on beautiful Miller Lake just 12 miles west of Chemult.  Click here for more info about Digit Point Campground at Miller Lake in the Winema National Forest. Also close by is Odell Lake and Odell Lake Resort on Hwy 58 with it's campgrounds. Then on Hwy 138 is Diamond Lake and Diamond Lake Resort. Both Odell Lake and Diamond Lake are about 30 miles from Chemult and all three lakes have great fishing.

We also have Willamette Pass Resort just up Hwy 58 and about 25 miles from Chemult. This is a great ski resort for your winter enjoyment.
